Important Information about your NBCUniversal T&E Citibank Credit Card and PIN

With fraud increasing in the United States, most banks are issuing "chip-embedded" credit cards to increase security and offer the highest level of fraud protection.  Over the past year, you may have noticed that your personal banks, in addition to NBCUniversal, have reissued new credit cards each containing the embedded chip.

Effective immediately, NBCUniversal will begin using the Chip & Pin card that was reissued to employees in October 2014.  The new Chip & Pin technology encrypts your transaction data, which makes it more difficult for unauthorized users to copy or access your card information.

What does this mean to me?
This means that your NBCUniversal Chip & Pin may require you to enter your PIN for some transactions and may only require a signature for others.

How do I use my Chip & PIN Card?
If the terminal has a slot, insert your card and follow the prompts.  Depending on the terminal, it will ask you for your PIN or it may only require a signature.  All “slot” terminals may not be PIN enabled.  It is up to the vendor how they configure their terminal.

Be Prepared – Know your PIN

If you enter an invalid PIN, the terminal will display an error message. If you enter an invalid PIN multiple times, your PIN will be locked and your transaction will be declined. Call the number on the back of the card to reset the PIN.

If you don’t have a chip-embedded card, or for additional questions, please contact the NBCUniversal T&E Team at 212-664-7154 or email [email protected].

If you did not set your PIN when you first activated your card, please call the number on the back of your card (800-248-4553).  You need to have the card present to be able to set your PIN. Go through the voice prompts to reach the “PIN” activation instructions. At the conclusion of the phone call, the PIN feature is activated.

When your card is first used as a Chip & Pin card, you must use a chip-enabled terminal attended by a person (not self-service such as a subway or underground station). During this first chip transaction, you may be asked to enter your PIN twice. That is expected; simply follow the prompts on the terminal. This should only occur during the FIRST transaction at a PIN-activated terminal, after you have created your PIN or if you have reset your PIN.
